Obituary for Toby F Yellen

YELLEN, Toby (STAR OF DAVID EMBLEM)(nee Friedman) of Buffalo, NY, on October 20, 2017. Beloved wife of the late Samuel L. Yellen, devoted mother of Steven L. (Karen B. Leeds) Yellen and Jack (Barbara) Yellen. Loving grandmother of Samuel L. (Dr. Emily J. Hart) Yellen, Max D. Yellen, Deborah S. Yellen, Sheldon L. (Heidi) Yellen, the late Mark H. Yellen and four great-grandchildren. Toby is survived by her sister Jean Weinstein, her beloved niece and nephew Wendy (Joseph) Sharnoff and Walter (the late Sherrie) Weinstein, great-niece and great-nephew Sara (Ryan) Chesley and Michael (Dina) Sharnoff and their children. Toby was an artist who painted in watercolor and acrylics, blending realistic and abstract styles. A lifelong learner, Toby spent many summers in educational programs at Chautauqua and Madison, Wisconsin. Toby was dedicated to reading the Sunday New York Times every week. Toby enjoyed playing bridge, tennis and walking. For many years, Toby spent winters residing at Kings Point in Delray Beach, Florida. Known for her collection of visors, Toby always maintained her sense of humor and independent spirit. Private services will be held at the convenience of her family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Toby’s name to Hospice Foundation of WNY, 225 Como Park Blvd. Cheektowaga, NY or Congregation Beth Abraham, 1073 Elmwood Avenue, Buffalo, NY.
