Condolence: We are so sorry to hear this news. Alan was a great teacher, mentor, and friend to both of us in the 1980's at the University of Maryland. He was a kind, thoughtful man who had a positive influence on many.

Alan was a mentor to me and provided support and friendship while I was a student and resident at the University of Maryland in 1986. Dora, my wife, and I from to to time talk about those early days and how much Alan added texture to our lives. He was a caring, gentle and thoughtful man.
